“REALLY, GUYS?” I SCOFF over the music, looking at Chase and Gus across the table. The rest of the guys left us not long after we got to the club and I haven’t seen them since.

Chase and Gus both stare back at me with their goofy-ass grins. “Come on, man,” Gus chimes in. “Have some fun, for fuck’s sake.”

“Yeah, bro,” Chase adds. “Your clock’s ticking.”

I shake my head and drain the rest of my glass of bourbon. “Fuck you both, assholes.”

“Mr. Marino,” a soft voice purrs in my ear as a set of hands land on my shoulders. “I’m going to have to ask you to come with me.”

I glare at Gus and Chase who laugh as two topless chicks walk up to them and lead them away. Turning around, I look down at the young blonde with perky tits smiling up at me.

“We have something special for you in the back,” she says, grabbing onto my hand. “Come with me.”

Looking around, I don’t see any of my friends that I’m supposed to be here with. I shrug and let the little blonde lead me away from the crowd and down the dark hallway.

I know where we’re going and what happens back here. Fucking strippers isn’t something I’m into and I don’t pay for sex.

I follow her back anyway, because fuck it, I’m supposed to live a little, right?

The dark hallway only leads us into a dark room. There’s a soft red low light running along the bottom of the walls. A small circular platform sits in the center of the room with a thick metal pole. On the far side of the room, a large leather couch sits facing the stage.

Soft R&B music plays as I’m pulled inside the room. She leads me to the couch, spinning me around and gives me a light push onto the black leather. I don’t resist her and plop down, waiting for her next move.

Leaning back, I rest against the back of the couch as she bends forward and grips my knees. Spreading them apart, she leans in closer to me, bringing her lips to my ear.

“Lacy will be in in a minute,” she purrs before backing away from me.

My face falls for a second and I’m slightly disappointed as I watch her hips sway as she walks out of the room.

She isn’t my type, but I was hoping she’d stay. I don’t like blondes or brunettes, but if the room is dark enough, I don’t give a fuck what color their hair is. In the dark, you can see whatever color that your mind wants you to see. The only color I can see in the light is a subtle shade of honey.

Honey-colored curls and bright green eyes haunt me and every time I close my eyes, she’s all that I see. For the past ten years, I’ve been trying to erase her from my memory, but how do you erase something you can’t let go?

I grasp at the memory of her like sand slowly slipping through my fingertips as my mind fights to forget her.
